Discovering Breeze Campers
We are Laura and Hektor of @hekkigram and we absolutely love camping and dog friendly adventures! We first discovered Breeze Campers over two years ago and were in absolute awe of their campervan rentals when we saw them at Dogstival! And what’s more, they’re dog friendly!
Renting from Breeze Campers not only gives you luxury whilst camping, but also makes it incredibly easy to head out on adventures!
The team at Breeze Campers are always so welcoming and immediately head to the dog treat jar for Hektor when we arrive for pick up and drop off! They take the time to show you the vehicle you will be hiring and ensure that you are happy with all the functions prior to setting off. Whilst sorting out the paperwork, Hektor made himself very comfy on the desk which the staff loved!
The New California Ocean
Now, I was blown away with the updated California Ocean. Both side doors now open up, making it even easier to organise and set up – whether for bedtime, cooking or when parking up and enjoying a picturesque view.
The one thing that really blew my mind was the app that you can download on your phone and connects to the campervan. It’s super easy to use, no log in required and you can control pretty much anything from your phone such as lighting, pop-up roof, fridge temperature and more!
The campervans have absolutely everything you need – including fridges, stove, sink, electric hook up, table and chairs and are super easy to convert from the seats into a bed! This means you don’t have to worry about bringing a huge amount of stuff with you as it’s already there! Just hop in and enjoy the adventure!
Moody Meadows
Have you ever heard of a campsite with your own private hot tub on your pitch? Well neither had I until I discovered Moody Meadows! A beautiful campsite located in Ceredigion, Moody Meadows has some excellent and modern facilities as well as a farm shop and (dog friendly) bistro on site! I even had the option of choosing an adults only pitch!
The provided electric hookup in the campervan meant I could easily hook up to the electric at the pitch, meaning I could keep the fridge fully stocked with no worry!
I loved being able to hop into the hot tub and then get into the California Ocean to keep warm after! Being able to open both side doors also meant that Hektor could perch in the van and keep an eye on me whilst I enjoyed the relaxing hot tub!
Having the California Ocean meant I could just relax - this stay truly felt like heaven!
Dog Friendly Beaches in Ceredigion
I had no idea that the beaches around Ceredigion often have seals on them during specific seasons! We first discovered Cwymtydu Beach, a quiet, dog friendly cove tucked away through winding single-track roads (with only a few passing places!) The California Ocean is perfect for navigating these due to it’s sensors at the front and back, as well as the camera.
It was pretty windy but we were able to park up for free with a beautiful view of the cove and be protected from the elements. There are hiking trails at this National Trust site and there are little still pools of water and streams for your dog to paddle in! There is also a little dog friendly coffee shop nearby.
Next we headed to Tresaith beach – a sandy beach with an unusual feature – a waterfall! Accessible only when the tide is out, you head to the right side of the beach, scramble over some of the rocks and will encounter the Tresaith waterfall. Hektor enjoyed finding pet rocks and sniffing around the rock pools!
Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site
We headed to the edge of the Forest of Dean for our final night, to the beautiful and peaceful Hawthorne Cottage Caravan Site. This has a limited number of pitches, is adult only and dog friendly. Whilst it is a small campsite, with limited (yet modern) facilities, this was no issue at all due to the smaller number of people staying at the site. One thing I loved was there was a freezer in the utility room which offered both human and dog ice cream! The owner of the site was incredibly friendly and made sure we were both happy with our pitch.
I opted to cook steak for dinner (acquired from the Moody Meadows farm shop!) and was hoping to enjoy a peaceful dinner in the sunshine. Of course, I got the table and chairs out for us to both sit outside. The weather did take an unpredictable turn however, thanks to the awning of the California Ocean, we could still sit outside protected from the light rain! Due to both side doors being able to open, we are able to opt for the side less impacted by the wind and rain too! This feature really helps when the weather changes!
Dropping off the California Ocean
When we headed back to drop off the van, the team were as lovely as ever! They check the van over quickly, get you to sign off, then you can head on your way! I honestly cannot recommend Breeze Campers enough!
